Gornik
Gornik
God the Mine

Other Names
Dver: “The Mine Lord”
It is said that Gornik’s true form is that of a massive, bestial Molebear - a creature of the earth, a master of the deep places. His furs are the color of the earth, and his eyes scintillate with the deep colors of precious stones. His claws shine with the light of metals he seeks.
Yet sometimes he takes the shape of a sturdy Dver miner of perfect bearing. Hooded and cloaked in the shadows of the deep places, his pickaxe flashing as he strikes the earth with a rhythm that is both steady and relentless. Sometimes miners will see him, or hear his slow rhythmic hum as he sings his song to the stone and earth, echoing through the tunnels and showing him where to dig.
His presence brings with it the promise of hidden wealth and the gentle certainty that the earth will yield its treasures to those who work with patience and skill.

Whether to grant some form of divine guidance in finding ore or to provide protection from cave-ins and other dangers, Gornik receives countless prayers from those seeking the earth’s bounty.
The followers of Gornik are those who have dedicated their lives to the extraction of the earth’s treasures, who have seen the darkness of the deep places and chosen to bring light and wealth to the surface, and who have learned that patient toil and respect for the earth are more powerful than the fickle nature of greed. They include miners who work the deep places with ancient wisdom, metallurgists who transform raw ore into works of beauty, and those who have endured great hardship and emerged stronger for having learned to trust in the earth’s natural abundance.
