Common title
Ornim primarily manifests through possession of the recently deceased, those whose graves have not yet been erected and can typically be identified by the corpse carrying her sacred apple—a symbol of the final harvest and the transition from life to death. What she truly looks like in physical form is unknown, even in the divine realms as Ornim keeps herself hidden behind cloaks and barriers, a shadowy figure whose true nature remains a mystery to all but the most devoted of her followers.
Her presence brings with it the weight of the earth and the certainty that all things must return to the dust from which they came.
Zarach stands as her opposite, the god of lost souls, whose followers are necromancers and death worshippers, those who seek to corrupt the souls of the departed and bring them back to life.
Common Worship
Section titled “Common Worship”The followers of Ornim are looked upon with a mixture of respect and unease, as the caretakers of the recently departed and keepers of the grave. Her clergy are often seen as undertakers, ensuring the proper burial of the fallen. Her followers are naturalists, understanding the cycle of life and death and the source of their comfort in times of grief.
Anyone who has suffered the recent loss of a loved one will call the name of Ornim alongside that of Martivir to not only judge them with favour, but also to ensure their safe passage to the afterlife. Ornim dedicates her agents to ensure the latter, most supreme of which is her Angel of Death, Azra, a divine messenger who guides the souls of the departed to their final resting place.
Wherever the dead are laid to rest and tombstones mark the passage of time, Ornim is called upon to comfort the mourner. The Lady of Bones receives countless prayers from those seeking to honor the departed, ensure the proper burial of the fallen, or find peace in the face of loss.
The followers of Ornim are those who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of understanding death, who have seen the power of the grave and chosen to embrace it rather than fear it. They do not shy away from death, but despise the perversion of undeath and the corruption of the soul by resurrection. They include undertakers who have learned to care for the dead with dignity, naturalists who have mastered the art of understanding the cycle of life and death, and those who tend to the dead and have learned to trust in the power of the earth and the inevitability of death’s triumph.
