Common title
Stryder embodies illusion and as such his form shifts often, ever-changing like the flickering light of a candle in the wind. In many of his depictions, he resembles a fox-like humanoid clad in a long coat, with a wide-brimmed hat hiding his eyes, but those who claim to have met him give varied accounts of his appearance. He is however fond of illusions and tricks, and most often leaves his calling card in the form of a perpetually spinning, gold coin that vanishes when you try to pick it up.
Being a natural shape-changer, he can take any form he wishes, but enjoys teasing any observers by including elements of his sigil or fox-like nature into all of his manifestations. Whether appearing as a merchant with a fox’s tail peeking from beneath his cloak, or a performer whose mask bears the mark of his tongue, Stryder delights in these subtle hints of his true nature.
His presence brings with it the weight of possibility and the tantalizing promise that fortune favors the clever and the bold.
Common Worship
Section titled “Common Worship”Stryder is most often called upon for luck, whether it is while gambling, attempting some feat, or even when wishing good fortune on a particular business transaction. Winning with or more often against the odds will have the name of The Lucky Fox heard in whispers of gratitude and wonder.
Paying tribute at his shrines is said to give a person an equal amount of good luck as what they have suffered in bad luck since their last tribute. This balance of fortune draws many to his altars, from desperate gamblers seeking to turn their luck around to merchants hoping for a prosperous season.
Wherever chance plays a role and cleverness can tip the scales, Stryder is called upon to acknowledge the seeker’s need for fortune. Whether to grant some form of divine luck or to provide protection through the power of illusion, Stryder receives countless prayers from those who operate in the shadows of chance and opportunity.
The followers of Stryder are those who have embraced the chaos of possibility, who have seen the power of cleverness and chosen to exploit it rather than fight it, and who have learned that luck is often shaped by intelligence and that success is often a picking the right cards at the right time. They include tricksters who serve justice through wit, performers who bring joy through their art, and those who have endured great misfortune and emerged stronger for having learned to trust in their own cleverness and the favor of fortune.
